Detox and Substance Abuse

Detox and Substance Abuse

Adults

Because recovery is a process that involves the entire body, it is most appropriately addressed through hospital-based care in our adult substance abuse program. The length of stay in this unit varies due to many factors, but most people complete the process within five to seven days. In some cases, patients may transfer to a dual diagnosis track for several days to gain insight into this complicated disease and the mental health issue that often accompanies substance abuse. After leaving this inpatient program, we strongly encourage patients to transition into our outpatient substance abuse services to maintain sobriety and reduce the likelihood of re-hospitalization.

Medically Monitored Detoxification

Substances that require medical detoxification can include alcohol, benzodiazepines and opiates including heroin.

Our inpatient detox program helps individuals begin the addiction recovery process so they can continue treatment in a structured environment. Care is provided by a multidisciplinary treatment team consisting of a psychiatrist, nurses, therapists and social workers. Once an individual is medically stable, they can transition into individual and group therapy that includes:

  • Substance use psychoeducational group therapy
  • Experiential group therapy
  • Therapy including 12-step principles and journaling
  • Narcotics Anonymous® and Alcoholics Anonymous ® meetings

The inpatient detox program accepts TRICARE®, Medicare, some Managed Medicare and most commercial insurance. Benefits can vary and need to be verified before admission.

Transitioning to Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Program

Our inpatient rehabilitation program specializes in providing comprehensive treatment for individuals with mental health issues and co-occurring addictions. Our goal is to provide a therapeutic environment for individuals with emotional and behavioral issues, including:

  • Alcohol and drug use
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Depressive disorders
  • Trauma history (including post-traumatic stress disorder)
  • Other mental health diagnoses

Treatment and programming components can include:

  • Medical, psychiatric and psychological assessments
  • Individual therapy sessions each week
  • Family sessions as needed
  • Ongoing psychiatric medication management
  • NA®/ AA® meetings
  • Therapy including 12-step principles and journaling

Individuals may step down from detox or be admitted through an outside referral source, such as a physician, mental health therapist or family member.

The inpatient detox program accepts TRICARE®, Medicare, some Managed Medicare and most commercial insurance. Benefits can vary and need to be verified before admission.

Once the Detox and Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs have been completed patients have an opportunity to step down into one of our Dual Diagnosis outpatient programs.
